Can I get child support if husband and I used donor due to his infertility and he has left me?

AJ asked:

I am 7 months pregnant and my husband has left me and took all the money. Due to him being sterile, we used a donor and did IVF and he signed all the paperwork. Can I get child support even though he is not biologically the father?

If you went into it as a couple and he signed anything (which I believe he would have to,) that goes along with him wanting this child etc. then yes you can. It may be a bit of a wait as far as going to court etc, but in the end you should be able to get him for it. Just be thankful that your little one doesn’t carry his genes

    “Left…and took all the money”?

Now is the perfect time to get a divorce lawyer. Do not wait another day. The bum has legal (and moral) obligations to you and to his child.

Your lawyer will have an incentive to get your money. She will need you to have money to pay her. If you do not have an attorney, use the lawyer referral service at your state’s bar association website.

maybe but the real question is do you think he will ever pay it?
