Does having borderline count and motility doom you to infertility?

Richard Head asked:

I was rejected as a sperm donor back in my starving grad school days because my count and motility were borderline. I made the initial cut because I froze well.

My question is, now that I am ready to have some kids, is this “borderline” diagnosis going to make it difficult to knock up my wife?

It might lower your chances slightly but if you’re borderline then it doesn’t mean you are shooting blanks. You still have some good sperm in there and that is all you need to make a baby. You should probably have more sex to increase your chances. Lucky you ;)

It may lower yor chances, but it could ahve changed since then. if you are really concerned, then go get your count again. A lot of the time with men, diet or habits (smoking, drinking, poor health) can lower your sperm count. Also a lot of medications can do this without you knowing. I would get a re-count and go from there.
