What are the most effective over the counter/home remedies for infertility?

samj530 asked:

What vitamins/supplements/OTC drugs/prescription drugs have you taken to get pregnant? I have been trying for over 2 years now. I was taking presciption drugs, but my husband changed jobs & insurance coverage hasn’t started yet. Please only SERIOUS answers! Thanks!

I’ve heard vitamin B-12 works well for some things. There are also herbs specific to the type of problems you might be having. Check out there are many threads about infertility and natural remedies. Good luck!!!

your husband can go to the GNC or body building store & get a “trib” supplement. what that does is boost his testosterone and his sex drive & his sperm will be more verile. when we were trying for our second i went and got me some “trib fuel” by twinlab, its cheap & effective, not too long afterward we were pregnant. keep in mind though that these pills along come with all the stuff that high testosterone brings so he may be more moody than usual.

These websites have what I think you’re looking for. There are more home/over-the-counter things than even just these, so don’t give up hope! With enough research you should definitely be able to find something that will work for you.
Ovulex (Ambreoz for men if want)

    FertilAid

There is a website called and the woman who owns it sells a bunch of herbal mixes that supposedly work well. You might want to check it out. If you have any questions, the owner (Momma Kath) is really nice and helpful as she has faced many years or TTC, too.

Have you tried folic acid? I’m sure you must have. If not you should be on that anyway to prepare your body. Lots of fruit and veggies and make sure you are positive and don’t stress out. It will happen when it happens. Or it wont…in which case have you considered some fertility counselling? I know you said money is tight..but my friend’s husband’s spermies would not penetrate her egg and they were forced to do invetro. (sp) It sucks but sometimes it has to do with him, not you…Imagine that…it’s actually a man’s fault sometimes..:)

Taking Robitussen helps. You start taking it about day 12-18 of your cycle. Just a small dose in the morning. Also another home remedy is taking BABY asprin once a day during that same time frame. Are you charting your basal body temperature. If not then you probably should. You can buy a BB thermometer almost anywhere. Take your temperature first thing in the morning before getting out of bed. When your temp rises you know you ovulated.
