What part of Infertility treatment expenses are tax deductable? Does it include IVF?

Madhu asked:

I am planning to go through IVF this year. Please someone tell me how much of this is tax deductable. Diagnostics, Medicines, tests, procedures, etc.
Do i have to declare about these expenses at the beginning of the year? I mean if i go through this treatment, can i deduct it from tax at the end of this year?

Infertility treatments are not tax deductible per se. However, with some FSA (flexible spending accounts) plans, you can submit receipts for infertility related costs and reimburse yourself with the pre-tax dollars.

This would be the only way that I am aware of that you could recoup your costs. There are no infertility treatments that would affect (beneficially or not) your filing a tax return if that is what you are asking.
